Memory Tag

My friend Amy is playing memory tag. Since I left a memory on her comments, I must now play, too.
Here are the rules:
1. Add a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments. I can't wait to see what people remember.

What Do You Do All Day?

My cousin sent this to me. Although I've seen it before, I thought I'd post it, in case you haven't. Enjoy!

What Do You Do All Day?
A man came home from work and found his three children outside, still in their pajamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers strewn all around the front yard. The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door to the house and there was no sign of the dog.
Proceeding Into the entry, he found an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked over, and the throw rug was wadded against one wall. In the front room the TV was loudly blaring a cartoon channel, and the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing. In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled on the counter, the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spilled on the floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was spread by the back door.
He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles of clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she might be ill, or that something serious had happened. He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way out the bathroom door. As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy soap and more toys strewn over the floor. Miles of toilet paper lay in a heap and toothpaste had been smeared over the mirror and walls.
As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up in the bed in her pajamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him, smiled, and asked how his day went. He looked at her bewildered and asked, 'What happened here today?'
She again smiled and answered, 'You know every day when you come home from work and you ask me what in the world I do all day? ''Yes,' was his incredulous reply. She answered, 'Well, today I didn't do it.'

Cast Party

My house survived the cast party!

Our cast party last night was so much fun. We had a ton of food... and no one died from not having any "organized activities". That was a great bonus! We figured that since our cast is like one giant family, we'd all want to talk mostly anyway. The kids played a bunch of tag style games, and only managed to trash one room in the whole house--I feel pretty lucky.

It was more than wonderful to see our friends from "Birdie" one more time. I sincerely hope that this will not have been the last time: it was a blast.

Thank you Troy, for putting up with 50+ people tromping through your beautiful yard, for cleaning everything outside, and for holding down the fort while I was gone. I love you so much, and fall deeper in love with you everyday.

Thank you Kate for co-hostessing and saving my bacon. You made things run smoothly. I adore you.

Thank you Stan for the dvds. I look forward to watching them. I am so thankful every day that you are my friend.

Thank you Susan and Erica for your kind remarks on our garden. It was fun to share ideas!

Thank you Melody for the picture cd and the sweet card. You are a gem!

Thank you Amy H. for the chairs, tables, and cotton candy. You deserve an award!!

Thank you Stephanie, Director Stephanie, for the cd. I wonder how it copied itself?

Thank you everyone else. Thank you for being my friends, and for coming to our party. Thank you for the awesome food and the great company. Thank you most of all for being a part of my life. We are truly blessed.

Days Of '47 Pops Concert

I have the coolest friends: let me just get that out there, right off the bat.
I got a phone call the other day from a cute new lady in our ward (Wendy Brown) inviting Troy, McKenzie, and me to the Days of '47 Pops Concert at Abravanel Hall downtown. First off, I was totally surprised that she'd invite us! We'd only met once at church... she's just so nice. It was a bonus treat to learn that Emily and Scott (I love them!) were coming, too!

We decided to take trax downtown, catch some dinner at Vida Loca's at the Gateway, and then walk to the concert. Troy and Scott were at work and would need to meet us there, so my new friend (Wendy) and her cute husband (Courtney) would pick Kenzie and me up-- to car pool to the trax station.

This was a great plan, and we were super excited about it. I even found enough change around the house to pay for trax. (Anyone who knows me well, knows I NEVER have cash.)

All was going great until 4:00 p.m. hit (we were supposed to leave at 4:30) and I was informed that my van (which had been at the dealership all day) needed to be picked up. Yikes! Long story short--too late!--it looked like there was no way for me to go since I needed to get my van. Troy zoomed home, after I cancelled and then un-cancelled my babysitter, Wendy picked me up, and I was so embarrassed.

We had to borrow $20 from Emily, since I wasn't planning on Troy riding Trax. I need to carry more cash, I guess. We boarded Trax, and it was so nice! This was my family's first experience with Trax and we were impressed.

Scott met us at the Gateway; Emily was so cute! She was just so excited to see her "hot husband". I loved watching how sweet and snuggly they were.

Dinner was yummy, and the walk to the concert ws fun.

The concert was amazing! We really enjoyed each number played, with our favorites being: the theme from Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Carribbean, and Bring Him Home. Dallyn Vail Bayles was the guest artist-- he was incredible!

It was a wonderful night, and so much fun to get to know the Brown family. Kenzie and Allison got along great! It's so nice that we have such great people in our ward, neighborhood, and circle of friends!

I See The Light!

After a week of killing myself over having my house "perfectly clean", I'm almost done! All I have left to do is:

1. finish laundry

2. reclean bathrooms

3. sweep, mop, vaccuum

The funny thing is that the timing for it all is a bit weird. We're having our "Bye Bye Birdie" cast party here tomorrow night--and I just know my house will be a wreck afterwards. Oh, well!

Speaking of the cast party, we are so dang excited to see our "Birdie Family" again! We miss everyone so much!!!!!!!!

Scout Camp, Day One

Yesterday Yakko went to his first scout camp. He had a great time doing various activities and hanging out with his friends. His kind scout leader, Kim, took these pictures from Yakko's adventures yesterday. Enjoy!

The Office

Sadly for Stephanie (Director Stephanie), this is not a post about her favorite t.v. show. It's about what I spent eleven-yes eleven-hours doing today. The worst part is that I'm not through...
I spent the day cleaning out the file cabinet in our office. I took three very full drawers and went through every paper in them. Two and one half bags of papers to shred and three full boxes of very well organized file folders later, I am almost finished. My filing cabinet now has room for our current important docs, bills, etc. I even made room for the Home School stuff!
Tomorrow will see the end (I hope!!) of this project: the cleaning and reorganizing of the rest of the stuff. Oy.
