Torn

I just don't know what to do. Life is full of so many wonderful things, that some times it's hard to know what to do. I am faced with that challenge today.

Wakko has been asked to play an All-Star Game on Monday for baseball. This is a cool honor for him: he's worked really hard. He'll be getting a trophy, and get to bat off the pitching machine. Awesome! The problem is that I have rehearsals at the same time. The corkscrew? Dad has school, and cannot miss it. We have plans in the works to address each issue...

What do you do when faced with similar challenges?
*Update! My awesome sister Tiffanie and her cute husband, Alvaro, as well as my supportive parents are going to stay with Wakko on Monday! Yahoo for family saving the day!!!

Play Ball!

I am so proud of my boys! As the baseball season is winding down, their energy and love of the game is only growing. They've both done so well, and have learned a ton!I am thankful for kind coaches who have helped my boys to grow. Yakko and Wakko have developed skills and drive this Spring that will help them through the rest of their lives. Way to go, boys!

Way To Go!

Wakko also plays Little League Baseball, but is in a division where the kids are 3-6 years old. They play "coach pitch" where the coach pitches the first 6 tries at bat, then if they haven't yet hit the ball, the kids get a shot with the "tee". Wakko is the only six-year-old on his team; his powerful arm has had to learn control (so he doesn't hit the other kids too hard with the ball). This has been a great lesson for Wakko to learn.
Wakko loves baseball, and gets into each game--he takes it so seriously! He's scored lots of points for his team, and it doesn't matter to him that no one keeps score. That'll come next year. Meanwhile, he's having a blast playing ball! He plays short stop, and got a try at being catcher. I really think Wakko will be on a team next year...

M.V.P.!

Yakko's baseball team has really toughed it out so far. They have worked hard, but lost the first three games, and were rained out of another two. Well, their luck changed last night, and they won today!

Today was their first make-up game and... they won again! To top it off, Yakko won the team M.V.P. award! He was awarded this honor for being to every practice and game, for improving so much, and for working so hard. We couldn't be more pleased!

Congratulations, Yakko!!!!

Play Ball!

Since our boys are playing baseball on a city league, baseball is now the coolest thing around our house. Wakko practically lives in his ball cap, and both boys carry their mitts with them just about everywhere. If I had a dollar for every time I had to pick up a ball in our house, we could go to Disneyland again. My dad got some discounted tickets to the "Bees" game (SLC's minor league) for last Saturday. We really enjoyed ourselves! (We brought our coats since it was chilly when we left the ball park. It warmed up quite nicely during the game.) We loved watching as several players smacked home runs. It was such fun to be only six rows up from Left Field. The other team (the Portland Beavers) had their reserve pitchers practicing right in front of where we sat. When all was said and done, the "Bees" won 11-10 and the kids got to run around the bases.
This great American past-time was loads of fun for all of us! We cheered as if our team were the greatest team ever, we sang "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" during the seventh inning stretch, and the boys tried to catch every fly-ball of the game. It was a blast-- we'll be going to another baseball game again, I'm sure!
Next time, we'll have to be sure to get hotdogs! Oh, and remember to wear sunscreen...

What Is This?

I think there's a problem; it's supposed to be Spring. Easter was last Sunday, baseball season has begun, and the kids have been wearing shorts. So here's the question: what is this?
